Last Week to Check Out FREE “Paranormal Hallucinations” Exhibition in Williamsburg
Awesome art isn’t limited to the stuff you see in museums– comic books, tattoos, and graffiti can have some serious artistic cred, too. A survey of work by all of these types of outsider artists, Paranormal Hallucinations– a current exhibit at Pandemic Gallery in Williamsburg– offers tons of visual gems in a casual, “not-your-typical-elitist-gallery” environment. Unfortunately, the exhibit closes on January 7th, so this is your last week to check it out!
I went to the opening for this treasure trove of street art, and it felt pretty “Bay Area.” Everyone in attendance was looking a little unwashed and bike messanger-y, and I spotted more than a few SF Giants hats. The art on display had some major California vibes as well– from Swampy’s otherworldly graffiti, to Llewellyn Mejia’s psychedelic illustrations. As a resident of California for the first 23 years of my life, I found this super enjoyable– like a mini vacay to the Mission or something!
