Tonight, It’s Always A Business Doing Pleasure with You- Fundraiser for St. James Infirmary at Wild Side

Its mid-June, folks, which in San Francisco means we are heading into the home-run stretch of Pride month.  As Market street gets all polychromatic and workers frantically try to blast all the dried “character” away, all across town festivals, booze- busts, lecturers and shindigs are popping up like so many nosegays. 

  To help you along we’ll be highlighting all the places to go and the cheapest ways to get there. Time to get out y’all!

She will always love you.

It can safely be said that Dolly Parton sits in the pantheon of American treasures, but it could be also argued that she is so much more than that. A patron saint perhaps- a protector to all but especially those who also work so hard and get called cheap. She draws us to her soft bosom and coos gentle mountain lullabies.

Her role that defined this best would be that of the Chicken Ranch’s own Miss Mona.  No one would dare look sideways at her girls. Sadly there aren’t enough Miss Monas in the world, so the protecting and caretaking falls on the shoulders of no-less fabulous but woefully under-funded entities such as the St. James Infirmary.

The St. James has been treating and caring for the city’s sex workers for thirteen years and today they are kicking off their birthday with a lil’ ole bitty pissant country party at the Wild Side West themed after the one and only Dolly herself. They encourage all to come with hair high enough to reach heaven and cup sizes that resemble artillery.

There will be games, contests, strippers and djs galore all in a gossamer haze of candyfloss and perfume. Not to mention lots of mouth-watering, plumped franks and gooey cake wedges.

Sliding scale $5.00- $10.00. No chickens, but no one turned away for lack of funds.
