The Warriors’ owners plan to move the team across the Bay to Mission Bay in San Francisco, a move that has been hotly contested and would have potentially disastrous impacts to Oakland’s economy.
Moving the Warriors out of Oakland would have severe impacts on the economic health of the city – estimated at nearly $45 million per year in lost revenues and an increase in unemployment.
The rally and watch party event is sponsored by a coalition of fans including SaveOaklandSports (SOS). SaveOaklandSports is a nonpartisan grassroots fan group formed in 2012 to support efforts to keep the Raiders, A’s and Warriors in Oakland. SaveOaklandSports believes these teams play an irreplaceable role in the fabric of Oakland and the East Bay which have passionately supported the team for more than 40 years. https://www.facebook.com/sossports/.
