Ritual Coffee

By Mark Mason
Mark Mason is a writer and poet from a small town in England. He now lives in San Francisco, California. You can check out his novel, Our Endless Covered Ways on Amazon.

The lights
hung from long wires,
like illuminated veins.
Dogs
walked by
skinny model girlfriends.
Shallow sugar pots
constantly refilled;
chiseled servers with
too much rouge
smile freely,
obediently.
Shaded nobodies
saunter slyly,
and I,
I watch
and judge,
as always.
