California Statewide Fire Summary October 29, 2020 via Fire.CA.Gov
Over 5,600 firefighters continue to battle 22 wildfires in California. Yesterday, firefighters responded to 29 new wildfires, all of which were quickly contained. More cooperative weather continues to aid firefighters in their efforts towards containment on the on-going wildfires. In fact, as good progress has been made in Orange County, many evacuations have been lifted or downgraded to warnings. The winds have decreased significantly across the State; however high pressure will continue to bring warm and dry conditions through next week. Some areas will experience locally breezy winds, especially in the mountains and canyons.
Yesterday, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a 16 death on the North Complex. A copy of their release can be found here. This brings the total number of fatalities to 32 since the fire siege and increased fire activity started on August 15, 2020.
Even with cooler weather, California has not received significant rainfall leading to continued heighten fire danger. The public is urged not to let their guard down. To learn more ways to be prepared for wildfires, and how to prevent sparking a wildfire, visit www.ReadyForWildfire.org
