Massive Greta Mural Looks Over San Francisco

The massive portrait of climate activist Greta Thunberg, just off of San Francisco’s Union Square was commissioned in 2019 by SF not-for-profit One Atmosphere..  The artist is Andrés Pereoselli who is Argentinian and  known as @CobreArt.  He’s done massive portraits like this all over the world.

The artist wrote about his mural on instagram, “my mural of @gretathunberg, I want to say this is not a political issue, this is a human issue. It doesn’t matter what you think about her, this mural is to amplified her message, climate change is real, if we don’t do anything today, there is no future for our children.”

One Atmosphere’s executive director Paul Scott told CNN: “If we can amplify her message and get more people involved and listening to what she’s saying, then we’re doing some good.”

The mural is 60ft tall and 30ft wide and is located at 500 Mason St @ Post St.  Artist Cobre explained further about his mural, “I used about 80 eco friendly spray paints with a minimum impact, the rest of the paint is hand rolled on the wall, about 5 galons, to minimize my foot print I walked almost everyday to the wall, and the rest of days I used an electrical car, the empty cans are going to be used on a sculpture about climate change.”
