BUA’s First NYC Art Show!
I’ve been friendly with Justin Bua for a number of years now. We first met back when I lived above Caffe Pergolesi in Santa Cruz. My buddy Sayre and I were in line to grab some kind of caffeinated beverage and we noticed that the guy in front of us was looking at a portfolio of Bua’s artwork. Since we had a few Bua prints in our apartment upstairs, we asked the guy if he was a big Bua fan (because we were) and he replied, 'œActually, I am Bua'. We ended up hanging out with him and chatting for a few hours, and I’ve pretty much been friends with the guy ever since.
If you went to college, there’s a very good chance that one of your friends had a Bua print up in their place. His work is ubiquitous in the college scene, and with good reason: it’s fucking awesome.
If you’ve ever wanted to see his work up close and personal instead of through the haze of your buddy’s bong smoke, Thursday is your chance. Bua is having his first big art show in the town where he grew up, New York City. Not only will my dude be showing some of your favorite pieces, he’ll also be unveiling his latest work, a portrait of the legendary Jay Z. Who knows, maybe even Jigga Man will be in attendance. If so, someone should slip him a Broke-Ass Stuart sticker.
