$1 Oyster Happy Hour at Hyde Street Seafood House and Raw Bar
As a seafood lover, I should have eaten oysters many times before last week, but for some reason they had eluded my ever-expanding stomach. But when a friend told me about the awesome happy hour at Hyde Street Seafood House and Raw Bar, I finally felt the slimy goodness of oyster meat slide down my throat (I inserted “oyster meat” to avoid a potential “that’s what she said” situation).
Here’s the deal: Every day during happy hour from 5pm-7pm, oysters are $1 — kind of. They’re sold as 12 oysters for $12, so you can’t technically order one or two oysters. But I’m assuming if you go to a cheap oyster happy hour, you’re going to eat at least six anyway, so just make sure to go with a friend and split them. Or go on a date and make your date pay. You’re actually saving them money by being at this place, so they should be thrilled to whip out that debit card.
Beer is also only $2.50 during happy hour AND — this is my favorite — even if you just go for happy hour, you’ve served FREE bread and butter. Like adults at a real restaurant. Which I guess is what the scenario is. But hey, when you get used to eating 20-piece chicken nuggets from McDonald’s for only $4.99, you kind of get used to feeling like an eight-year-old. A very chubby eight-year-old with a monstrous appetite.
