Everybody Act a Fool

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

God knows, I was never brought up with religion – but this one seems right up my alley. The First Church of the Last Laugh (FCLL) claims to be the, “world’s fastest growing snack religion, with 150% less dogma (it’s a ‘lite’ religion), and one holy day a year.”  The idea for this hysterical religion was founded in March of 1979, in a deli on the corner of 16th St. and Market, in San Francisco. Their “holy day” was chosen to fall upon April Fools Day each year.

Lo and behold, tomorrow marks the FCLL’s 33rd Annual Saint Stupid’s Day Parade in SF. Everyone is beckoned to literally act a fool, sporting outlandish costumes and boasting righteous beliefs. The parade starts at Justin Herman plaza in the Embarcadero. It begins passing by the Federal Reserve Headquarters, the Tomb of Stupid (101 California) and the Statue of Bare Butt Mechanics. The Last Laughers take a break at the Sunken Plaza of Slack before continuing on to the Sock Exchange, the Banker’s Heart (Kearny at California)  – until the pass over to the Station of the END. There is a FREE lunch along the way!

For all of you sacrilegious people who don’t have to work tomorrow – take a leap of faith in the FCLL. What have you got to lose? The worst that could happen is that somebody might call you stupid….
