Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! It’s been a long, strange trip this Pride Week, but the day is here and San Francisco is shining in all it’s glory.

This has been one of the most contentious Prides, even before it started almost. The good feeling fest of the last week, has however diffused a little of that animosity. Nonetheless, San Franciscans stick by their fights and there will be many both in the parade and on the sidelines keeping firm their support of Private Bradley Manning, the Pride Commitee’s original Grand Marshall of this year. Among them is the Harvey Milk Democratic Club, which will be marching with State Assemblyman Tom Ammiano.

The parade will be followed by the usual civic celebration, which is usually overrun and overpriced, but should merit a walk through if you wanted to get all of the excitement etc that you missed at last night’s Pink Panic in the Castro.

Should you be hungry in all of this, bypass the gut wrenching fair offerings in exchange for BAS alum, Andrew Dalton’s sausage cart inspired by no other than ice-turned-kitchen delight, Brian Boitano. Word has it that the Olympian and SF native may even make an appearance.

As with yesterday, SoMa newbies, OMG! Would like to extend welcome to any who need respite from the crush over on 6th and Market. They also happen to be where current Grand Marshall Bebe Sweetbriar will be holding court. The first four readers to drop BAS’ name get free entrance to the after party hosted by DJs Guy Ruben and Alex Jordan.

If you are one of the many that missed the HF boat, fear not. You can partake in strong drink for free in DJ carnita’s very own bar next door, Virgil’s. PBRs will be but a dollar from 4-6 and a shot of Paddy and a pint of Big Daddy for $7 from 6-8.

All good parties come to an end and no one closes an long weekend quite like the Honey Soundsystem. A ten dollar cover is hardly cheap although it is comparatively, and drinking is best done elsewhere. They do make our mentionables list, however, because apart from being swell guys, they released a pretty nifty download, “Marry in Ecstasy” this past Wednesday for FREE!

Well, dudes/ dudettes, that’s Pride 2013. Stay tuned this week for our photo log of all the places people played over the weekend! See you next year!

Stephen's early years were spent in a boxcar overlooking downtown Los Angeles. From there he moved around the state with his family before settling under the warm blanket of smog that covers suburban Southern California. Moving around led to his inability to stay in one place for very long, but San Francisco has been reeling him back in with its siren song since 1999.
By trade he pours booze, but likes to think he can write and does so occasionally for the SF Bay Guardian, Bold Italic and 7x7. He also likes to enjoy time spent in old eateries, bars and businesses that, by most standards, would have been condemned a long time ago.
