When we lost the Bay Guardian last year, in addition to a consummate news source and progressive ally, we also lost one of the best party hosts in town. Among it’s annual offerings was it’s Pride week kick-off, “Pullin’ Pork For Pride”.

Well, the Harvey Milk Club thought it would be a shame to dispense with tradition, simply because of some corporate monkeyshine. Therefore, we contacted that effervescent arbiter of local nightlife, Marke B. of 48 Hills to see if we couldn’t resurrect the hog.

¡Voila! Wednesday, we’ll be pulling plenty of pork courtesy of the delicious Casa Sanchez. $15 gets you all the beer you can guzzle plus an unctuous helping of carnitas to leave you silly and sated.

That’ll do, pig.

And speaking of animals, you’ll find plenty of pups sniffing each other’s butts and dog piling at this year’s Pound Puppy Pride: Featuring Vienetta Discotheque. Stanley Frank and Ambrosia Salad join the usual cast of canines with their inimitable record roulette.

And just because they are such swell handlers, the boys have decided to offer two free passes to the Saturday night dog show. So enter here, so you and a friend can get frisky with the furry.

Stephen's early years were spent in a boxcar overlooking downtown Los Angeles. From there he moved around the state with his family before settling under the warm blanket of smog that covers suburban Southern California. Moving around led to his inability to stay in one place for very long, but San Francisco has been reeling him back in with its siren song since 1999.
By trade he pours booze, but likes to think he can write and does so occasionally for the SF Bay Guardian, Bold Italic and 7x7. He also likes to enjoy time spent in old eateries, bars and businesses that, by most standards, would have been condemned a long time ago.
