3 Reasons Why I Hate the 23rd St. Post Office

Between shipping out books, shirts and bags, I spend WAY too much time in this particular post office. Considering I started doing zines in 2004, I’ve been coming here roughly once a week or so for about five years. And all I’ve gotten for my trouble is a lowered general moral and a lot of time standing in line. I’ve given this place some of my best years. What follows is the 3 reasons why I hate this place so much.

Babies Who Look Like Assholes

It’s been a few years since Hollywood decided to make babies the accessory du jour.  Model maternal figures Nicole Richie, Britney Spears and Kendra Wilkinson have all regrettably spawned, anyone who lives in Brooklyn is familiar with the phenomenon of the $700 double-wide stroller and I think it’s safe to

Brand New “Young, Broke and Beautiful” Tote Bags

I actually wanted to call this post, “Broke-Ass’ got a Brand New Bag” but I feel like I’ve had enough problems with James Brown’s estate lawyers so I didn’t. In typical fashion I didn’t get these bags finished in time for Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa so they didn’t end up as anyone’s stocking

Humpday Videos: Solipsism Style!

We here at Broke-Ass Stuart remember a kinder, gentler, funkier time when there was an entire network devoted to playing awesome new music videos. Men named Pinfield and women named Idalis would introduce block after block of original music videos from various genres interspersed with interviews with musicians and video

See Ya in Hell, 2000’s!

So the ’00’s sucked, huh?  Aside from a few nice things that happened in my personal life and probably yours too, I (and apparently a lot of economists and sociologists) think it’s safe to say that this decade was pretty much the worst in living memory.  Instead of the fire

Broke-Ass Guide to Working Out

Like everyone else, I pretty much ate my weight in carbs this past holiday weekend, so naturally I’m looking to drop my phantom baby weight in the new year. But you know what, gym membership inflation is right up there with college tuition and I don’t have an extra $60
