Free Tickets to see The Dodos and Port O’Brien with your Coffee

Hard to hate on corporate sponsorships when it gets you free stuff.

Do you like free concerts? Do you like coffee? Of course you do, you’re broke and this is San Francisco. So you’re the target audience for Verizon’s new highly-bloggable marketing scheme/free concert series featuring two top-shelf local bands whose live shows I heartily recommend: The Dodos and Port O’Brien.

The Dodos will be playing this Saturday, May 8th at the Victoria Theater in the Mission, while Port O’Brien plays Z Space/Artaud next Sunday, May 16th. Both concerts are at 4pm.

The catch? You’ve got to pick up your tickets during specific (although fairly broad) hours at a couple of local coffee shops. Here’s the deal:

The Dodos at Victoria Theater
2961 16th Street at Mission [The Mission]
Saturday, May 7, 4pm
Pickup tickets at Four Barrel Coffee (375 Valencia)
Thurs May 6th – 9am-2pm
Fri May 7th – 9am-2pm
Sat May 8th – 9am-2pm

Port O’Brien at Z Space/Artaud
450 Florida St at Mariposa [Potrero Hill]
Sunday, May 16, 4pm
Pickup tickets at Coffee Bar (1890 Bryant)
Fri May 7 – 10am-5pm
Sun May 9 – 10am-5pm

This one comes to us from our friends over at local music blog The Bay Bridged, so head on over their way for mp3s and live reviews of both acts, as if you need further convincing to hit a free show.

His work was published in a real, paper magazine one time. One day he might even figure out how to make money from it.
