Jim’s Restaurant – The Mission’s Classic Greasy Spoon

Jim’s is one of those places that leaves one wondering how exactly it’s managed to survive in such a pure form.  It’s right in the heart of it all, with the likes of Foreign Cinema and Cha Cha Cha for neighbours and yet it still manages to operate as an old neighbourhood diner.  Not some precious interpretation, but the real thing in all its scuffed and greasy glory.

Now bear in mind, everything on the menu is of the highly lubricated variety – the hash browns alone taste as though they were grated from a stick of butter. It’s all pretty cheap though.  Better than the likes of an over-priced cardboard surprise you might partake in at Sparky’s anyway.  They also have Hangtown Fry which not exactly common these days.

The people that work here are super cool too.  Everyone sorta feels like they all live around the corner and would most likely hang out here even if they weren’t working.

Buyer beware when it comes to the bathroom though. Definitely has a certain abandoned gas station quality.
