Movies for Less at Cobble Hill Cinemas

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Movies are fucking expensive. Seriously, finding a theater that will let you escape reality for less than $12 in this city is practically unheard of. It’s not just tickets: I recently paid $4.50 for a bottle of Dasani (102 degree heat wave, I was desperate okay?) at a theater in downtown Brooklyn. That is some bullshit.

But there are ways to avoid having to take out a second mortgage in order to enjoy a Christopher Nolan-approved date. Free movies in parks aside, it’s helpful to know the theaters that will hook patrons up with deals. Enter Cobble Hill Cinemas.

Cobble Hill has matinee prices before 5 pm like other theaters, but if you don’t feel like sitting in a room breathing in the heady bouquet of old people to save a few bucks, they also offer $7 tickets ALL DAY on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Get there early, though, for popular shows – when I tried to go see Inception there last week, it was sold out and I was forced into the five-dollar-water ghetto. Don’t let that be you.

Polina Yamshchikov - Flirt Poor

Polina is Siberian by way of Alabama, and therefore cannot pronounce "fire" or "iron" correctly but despite this can still woo men with her cooking skills and enormous Russian cheeks. She can usually be spotted on the streets of Brooklyn either yelling into a cell phone in one of five languages or swilling gin at an inappropriate hour of the morning.
