Upscale Sips and FREE Gourmet Snacks at Adesso

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

You know you’re in a fancy bar when said bar offers an “aperitivo” hour as opposed to a “happy” one.  And you should know better than to call it a “bar” in the first place; Adesso is a bonafide gastropub that offers high-end Italian finger food to complement your glass of Montepulciano or rye cocktail.

Sound expensive? It is.  But it doesn’t have to be if you show up between 5pm and 6pm, Monday through Saturday.  At five on the dot, the servers line a table with FREE house-made goodies for you to nosh on, and they keep them coming for a full hour.  With plates of cheeses, marinated olives, freshly baked breads, salads, and samples from their charcuterie, Adesso’s selection far exceeds the average half-stale Chex Mix and wasabi peas.  It was here where I first tasted a tonno-filled egg, and I didn’t even know what the hell tonno was.  You can easily make a meal of it all, and for the price of one cocktail ($8), I sure did.

Adesso’s happy hour offers the most bang-for-your-buck out of any bar I’ve ever experienced in the Bay Area.  The cocktails are fresh, and the menu is seasonal, so the snack selection is ever-evolving. Go take advantage of them, now!

Thanks to Scott S. for the pic.

Mia is a nice Italian girl from an exotic Italian colony called New Jersey.  She studied English Literature and Screenwriting at Drexel University in Philadelphia and has no intention of ever being a teacher.  Instead, she produces low-budget films with her crew/friends, one of which actually won a contest hosted by AMC and judged by Mr. Robert (Rob) Zombie.  She currently lives and loves in beautiful Oakland, California, which, she maintains, is just as great as and even sunnier than San Francisco.
