Don’t miss the bus!  Muni rides are FREE all day today – even cable cars! Why not be a tourist in your own city and take a ride?

On December 28, 1912, the San Francisco Municipal Railway celebrated its opening-day ceremony at Geary and Kearny. As the first major, publicly-owned, land-based transit agency in the United States, Muni has grown to the point today that it provides transit service to more than 200 million customers per year in one of the densest, most compact cities in the nation.

On December 28, 2012, to express the SFMTA’s appreciation to its passengers, the SFMTA would like to provide transit service for free on all Muni vehicles for all passengers from 5:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. on the 29th.
