Haight Street Resident Responds to KKK Letter With Her Own Flyers

Sign Up for the Dopest Events Newsletter in the Bay Area

If you remember the other day, a San Francisco woman found a recruitment letter from the Ku Klux Klan on her doorstep. It was some wild shit. Some people think it’s a hoax, but no one knows for sure at the moment.

Anyways, yesterday Amanda, one of our readers, sent me these images of a flyer she found in The Haight:

In it she reps the Haight hella hard saying, “How dare you come to the Haight and attempt to recruit out residents. We stand for peace and justice and have since the 60s while you were lynching people of color”.

My favorite part is that she signs it “The Loyal White Lady Ally of the Haight who will beat your sorry ass if I catch you in my neighborhood distributing hate flyers.” I hope to god that’s what her title is on her business cards.

Maybe it’s cuz I’m hangover, but I’m not quite getting the “have several seats” reference. But I do dig the shout out at the end saying donations to the homeless are wanted. Unfortunately, our loyal white lady ally didn’t specify where the donations can be sent.

I think the take several seats is just a derivation of sit down and shut up.

“Haight residents” are talking a good game, but the Haight has been ground zero for rich people evicting people of color and the long term tenants for the last 20 years. Along with the rest of SF, it’s all rich people pushing everyone else out but pretending like they’re still socially liberal. It makes perfect sense that the KKK wants to move into SF, the one city evicting more people of color then some entire states combined. But the rich love to hold onto SF’s “flower child” reputation because it allows them to keep acting better then everyone else. I guarantee you these original KKK fliers where probably distributed by some tech bro who was upset he had to step over homeless black people when he walked to his google bus.

Hi. I made the flyers. I sure as fuck ain’t no tech bro. I’ve lived here in this apartment for 10 years, before that I was homeless myself and it took me years to get to a place where I could get this apartment in the Haight and have held onto it my the tips of my fingers at times but I am committed to helping our homeless community and keeping the Haight a safe haven for artists and freethinkers. I made the flyers for two reasons. 1. To let the KKK know they are not welcome here, and 2. To let the small amount of residents of color we have left to know we will protect them and we will not allow them to be intimidated.
