If you want all the feels, watch Obama’s 2008 DNC speech

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

This year’s Democratic National Convention is underway, with President Obama giving a speech last night from the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. Senator Kamala Harris gave her first speech to the nation as a Vice Presidential candidate. And they were both good speeches that you can watch both below.

But if you want to get goosebumps, and perhaps tear up a little, watch Obama’s DNC speech from 2008, when HOPE was alive and CHANGE was on the horizon, amidst an economic collapse, a war, and an administration ignoring the constitution. Obama made the future look bright, Barack was so young and bushy tailed…

Today, it’s shocking how similar our problems are, with a Republican administration that cares very little about the rule of law.  We are amidst another economic collapse, we are again alienated from our once strong diplomatic channels, and handicapped by poor leadership during a crisis.

It is important to note that many of Obama’s neoliberal policies set us up for the maelstrom that brought us Trump…

Anyway, here’s Kamala, perhaps a glimmer of hope:

Obama finally speaks out against trump’s treatment of the constitution:
