The Sf Symphony Is Playing Awesome Movies & Soundtracks
This post is brought to you by the fine folks at the SF Symphony, tickets to James Bond are %50 off…see bellow
There’s nothing like it. You’re watching a movie you already love but now there’s 90+ musicians on stage playing all the musical parts, in a building built for sound. I was at the Back To The Future showing Saturday night and it did not disappoint. The soundtrack’s composer Alan Silvestri was there and gave a speech, he’s also done other small films you may have heard of like Forest Gump and Marvel’s The Avengers. They had the hover skateboard from Back To The Future 2 on display and there was a f*@king DeLorian parked outside. People were well dressed, giddy and ready for an experience.
“Wait a minute Doc, you’re telling me you built a time machine out of a Delorean?” – Marty McFly
“The way I see it, if you’re going to build a time machine out of a car why not do it with some style?” – Doc Brown
The performance was great, the bar was great, (you can order drinks in advance so that at intermission they’re waiting for you) the conductor kept the sound perfectly timed with the film, and she did it in style, the lady next me commented on how ‘sexy’ the conductor was more than once, I (ahem) was only concerned with her professional aptitude of course…but nodded in agreement none the less. By all accounts the orchestra sounded wonderful, the music is more powerful live, they received a well deserved standing ovation.
Upcoming July 23, The James Bond series
Thursday, two-time Grammy® Award-winner Sheena Easton will be there along with the symphony playing all the awesome songs from James Bond movies through the years like Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Skyfall, plus “spy” songs from Mission Impossible, Austin Powers, and more. There’s also going to awesome cars on display like the 1969 Aston Martin & the Mercury Cougar XR7, along with shaken martinis at the bar.
Best part is, the tickets are all %50 off right now. Use promo code ‘summer’
You’re not going to get a cheaper ticket to the symphony… and of course if great deals like this come around again, we’ll be sure to let you know. Word is they are going to be playing some really cool movies at the Symphony this fall. Stay tuned…
