FREE Vegan Grub this Thankstaking at Cafe Gratitude

Thank-you for being a friend...

Thank-you for being a friend...

San Francisco can be a cruel joke around this time of year.  Not that it’s lacking in hospitality or anything.  In fact, if you got nowhere to go, I can’t think of a better town to be stuck in.  San Franciscans love a party and any holiday is as good as the other.

The other shoe dropping is that if you’re vegan or even vegetarian, I can’t say you’re going to fare any better in the city than you would at your relative’s house. Many a holiday party I’ve attended where my famished veg friends are wrestling over steamed Brussels sprouts or scouring the table for the one casserole of mashed potatoes that doesn’t have something that came out of or perhaps once was an animal at some point in time.  I casually gaze at their suffering as I suck the meat from my turkey leg like some cartoon alley cat and I feel just awful…reeeaaally I do.

Well for those that live in this supposedly bean sprout city and find themselves knee deep in pork bellies, Café Gratitude hears your cries.

For the past four years they’ve been serving up a vegan holiday feast for FREE every Thanksgiving and plan on doing it again this year.  The rub?  Well its first come serve and only lasts ’til three. – But hey, no dishpan hands right?

So go load up and then head over to your friend’s party where you can drink all their booze while they’re passed out from their orgiastic frenzy.

    A Holiday Thought…

Aren’t humans amazing Animals? They kill wildlife – birds, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice and foxes by the million in order to protect their domestic animals and their feed.

Then they kill domestic animals by the billion and eat them. This in turn kills people by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative – and fatal – - health conditions like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer.

So then humans spend billions of dollars torturing and killing millions of more animals to look for cures for these diseases.

Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals.

Meanwhile, few people recognize the absurdity of humans, who kill so easily and violently, and once a year send out cards praying for “Peace on Earth.”
