Limelight Marketplace Opens

So this is fucking weird.  And it makes me feel really old.  The very first ‘club” I was ever “up in” in my life has become a sort of haute-bourgeois foodie mecca and it opens this weekend.  The first place I ever saw real live drag queens and heard real live Deep House music and ever watched people do real live cocaine now has a fromagerie and something called a “Sneaker Gallery.”  It’s surreal. It’s like Limelight is growing old with me.

First one of us was an innocent child and one of us was a church.

Next, one of us was a wild(sort of) teenager who wanted nothing more than this. And lo, Limelight was the club of our lazy suburban wishes.

Then we were a little more mature and wanted to see Music Shows and stand and nod while bands played. Hence, Avalon.

Now we’re adultish. We have jobs, responsibilities, bills to pay.  And, yes, we both like a really good Manchego.

There’s something somewhat sinister about it.  Like the time at college when an S&M themed party got way out of control and people were engaged in some sort of weird whipping orgy on the lawn and then the next day we had a children’s carnival for kids from the neighborhood on the very same grass.

Anyway, I’m gonna check it out. You should, too.
