Pretend to Care This Weekend: Power to the Peaceful

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

You know what’s soo annoying? Getting mad diarrhea in your mouth.  But you know what’s even more annoying? Social injustice. That’s why the lovely people at Power to the Peaceful have organized their 11th annual festival to stop accidental mouthfuls of diarrhea. Or maybe it’s to promote service towards a better world, I’m not really sure.

This weekend at Speedway Meadows in Golden Gate Park, the festivus for the rest of us is expected to draw a crowd of 70,000 San Franciscans uniting to learn what they can do to make a positive change for humanity and the planet (i.e. helping under privileged youth, acting on compassion, banning the series 'œEverybody Loves Raymond', etc.).

Oh, and remember Alanis Morissette? She had a couple of big albums in the 90’s, but I like to think of her as the broad that screwed Uncle Joey. Anyway, she’s going to be there along with some other performers, DJs, vendors, and artists all displaying their peacey pieces.

There’s a $5 suggested donation, or it’s FREE if you’re an asshole. And I think we both know you are. See ya there!

Ryan Miller was raised in a small, quaint village named Portland, Oregon before spontaneously packing two suitcases, scrounging up $300 and catching a flight to San Francisco. Judging from his garbage, he is a connoisseur of Sun Chips and rather inexpensive wine. His personal goals are to refrain from hailing and accepting rides in random cars as well as greatly reduce the amount of hugs he provides for the homeless community. While touring Jamaica and prompted for his opinion on the prevalence of TB in third world countries, Miller eagerly asked, "They have Taco Bell here?"
