Be a Smarter Consumer: Read Michael Finney’s Blog
My mom told me she had an idea for a Broke Ass post. Whereas her advice usually consists of the statement 'œdrink some tea' (no matter what the problem is), this one was spot-on. Michael Finney is a reporter for the local ABC7 News. He’s been the 'œconsumer watchdog' there for over a decade, investigating shady local businesses and acting as the Bay’s very own better business bureau. You’ve got a problem with a local business? Write to Finney'”he replies to literally all his 1500 requests for help each week (or so he says'”I’m sure some of you Broke Ass complainers will put him to the test).
Well, Michael Finney’s got a consumer blog that is right up the Broke Ass alley (I didn’t mean to pair 'œass' and 'œalley' in that manner, sometimes Freud just gets the better of you, you know?). He does Finney’s Friday Free Stuff, where he posts FREE things you can get and/or do. He also gives advice about really random (but also maybe important) things like hacker-proofing your passwords, odometer-fraud in used cars, and protecting your family from carbon monoxide poisoning, you know, the kinds of things my mom would worry about. Anyway, check his out his blog or keep up with him on Twitter or Facebook and you just might learn something. Without Michael Finney, my mom might think the cure to carbon monoxide poisoning is peppermint tea.
