Alternate Plans: The National Tonight in Prospect Park

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

So tonight’s Celebrate Brooklyn concert featuring The National has been sold out for months,  as every ticket was immediately seized by bearded dudes willing to pay $35 to stand upright and sway gently to Matt Berninger’s dreamy baritone. Don’t be upset it’s sold out – are you really in the mood to get body hair sweat all over you tonight? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

In contrast to the upsetting nature of being surrounded by people you hate, the free alternative sounds downright pleasant: you, your friends, a big blanket (or a stoop!), food and booze. It’s an outdoor concert. Sound drifts. And to that point, I’m not sure The National are exactly known for their stagemanship: I doubt you’ll be missing much.

Go. Enjoy the outdoors, and people you like, and being young and free and happy and plus 35 bucks.

The National playing at Prospect Park Bandshell
6 pm Tuesday July 27th
11th & Prospect Park West
[Park Slope, Brooklyn]

The sold out show was $35, but luckily, sound is FREE

Polina Yamshchikov - Flirt Poor

Polina is Siberian by way of Alabama, and therefore cannot pronounce "fire" or "iron" correctly but despite this can still woo men with her cooking skills and enormous Russian cheeks. She can usually be spotted on the streets of Brooklyn either yelling into a cell phone in one of five languages or swilling gin at an inappropriate hour of the morning.
