Relive Your Youth With Street Games at Come Out & Play Festival All Weekend Long

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Back in my day, we just played Stickrock

If you were ever a precocious 8-year-old (or 10-year-old, or 12, or 26) who got bored with normal sports and started making up your own after about 20 minutes then you’ll certainly find something to keep you entertained in this weekend’s three-day Come Out & Play alternative games festival in the Panhandle. You’ve probably never heard of the majority of these games like Circle Rules Football or Cham Ball, but that just makes the whole thing sound more exciting.

Sponsored by Giant Robot San Francisco on Haight, the festival starts off with Human Asteroid and Ninja Friday evening, but there are ongoing games and a few that you have to sign up for in advance so be sure to check the schedule or drop by Giant Robot on Shrader at Haight for more info. The “real life survival horror game” Strawberry Hill actually sounds more exciting than any Haunted House in the Bay Area.

Come Out & Play Festival
Friday, Oct 22nd – Sunday Oct 24th
Games all day and all weekend
Check the eschedule for times and locations
Hosted by Giant Robot SF

Andrew Dalton - Aggressive Panhandler

Andrew is an East Coast transplant from Virginia hamming it up in San Francisco without any intention of leaving. Having worked every typical job from Bike Shop Employee to Bartender to Ad Agency Hotshot, to Dotcom Layoff he now busts his ass covering the "weird things to do" beat for gracious local audiences at SFAppeal.com and rallies the Western Addy/Lower Haight/Panhandle neighborhoods into action at AggressivePanhandler.com. His work was published in a real, paper magazine one time. One day he might even figure out how to make money from it.
