WTF Is Bachata? Find out on Tuesdays!
What is bachata? Great question, my friends! We’ll talk about what I learned later. But first I must tell you that you can see for yourself Tuesdays at Bissap Baobab Village, where $8 will get you a class and the dance party after. If you decide to skip the class (recommended for the severely broke but culturally curious), just the dance social costs a mere five bucks, but avoid looking like a fool by learning the basics ahead of time:
How to Bachata Dance : How to Do Basic Partner Bachata Dance Steps
Bachata is a dance originating from the rubes of the Dominican Republic, called sexier than salsa (pearl clutch!) due to its focus on hip movements. It’s also considered easier to do than other Latin dances. Traditionally, bachata music—guitar-based, combining afro, Latin, and Caribbean elements—accompanies the dance.
What I’m trying to say here is that bachata sounds like big-sexy-educational-funtime for cheap. Go broaden your horizons, or just find someone to take home.
