It’s the 90’s and we wanna send you to the MY2K boy band tour!
Even before my teenage self would jump between two worlds (getting bussed from the ghetto and into the middle class neighborhood for school), my pre-teen self was already crossing those invisible lines between two different worlds; those worlds being New Edition and New Kids on the Block. And then a relatively easy transition into my obsession with Backstreet Boys, which I refuse to apologize for.
Brothers Lachey (Nick and Drew) made their debut in the boy band 98 degrees in 1997, I had already made the switch over to underground hiphop. The My2K Tour is a tour featuring American pop bands 98 Degrees, O-Town, Dream, and singer Ryan Cabrera, all who started their careers in the early 1990s and 2000s. The tour is considered a “throwback” tour to create nostalgia for fans, especially to the Y2K scare.
