It Now Costs More to Park at 49er Stadium Than for A Game Ticket
How the mighty have fallen. A Parking Pass for the Rams Vs 49ers Game tonight costs more than a ticket to the actual game. Many season ticket holders have complained about a precipitous drop in ticket value this year. Ever since Jim Harbaugh was run out of town by Jed York and Baalke, the team has been on a downward spiral.
The best players on defense simply quit football after the Harbaugh left, the team was a dismal 5 -11 in 2015 and is projected to be dead last in the NFL Power rankings this year. Unless you count the Cleveland Browns of course, who just lost their starting quarterback yesterday to injury (RG III shoulder injury)
When 49er season ticket holders paid a “stadium building license” of $2,000 to $80,000 for the right to own season tickets at the new Levi stadium, they thought they were making a good investment. The problem now is regular season tickets are being sold by brokers at face value or less. Many season ticket holders are losing money, and many are trying to sell them at a loss.
The new stadium cost about $950 million to build in construction costs, and collecting season ticket licence fees was a significant part of paying that debt. Many who bought season tickets signed up to pay them off using a payments plan over a 10 year period. But what will happen if all of these ‘owners’ begin defaulting on their payments? What happens to the York business model when everyone begins loosing money? Not to mention if the 49ers keep losing games.
Good luck 49ers, I’ll be rooting for you even though you live in Santa Clara now
