Can Steph Curry Hit 16 Three-Pointers and Take the Record Tonight?

Wednesday, December 8th, marks the day that all the history can be made. Steph Curry, the greatest shooter of all time, trails NBA legend Ray Allen, aka Jesus Shuttlesworth from “He Got Game”, by 15 three-pointers in the chase to become the all time three-point leader. It’s inevitable, it’s going to happen, we all know this. The pending question is though can Steph drop 16 3’s at home against Oakland’s own Dametime and the Portland Trailblazers.
In Steph’s own words following a Monday night blowout home win against the Orlando Magic, which found the Warriors down early only to turn it around and never look back, he dropped this gem:
“That’s funny because I know what that means is Klay’s record and all that, too. So we will see…If you’ve seen the way I’ve played, especially recently, I’m not shy about shooting the ball, so the game will dictate what that looks like. I’m not coming out with that as the true goal of how I play, but crazier things have happened.”
Captain Klay Thompson, Splash Brother extraordinaire and the most anticipated love filled return from injury in the NBA, holds the record for most 3’s in a game at 14.
On October 29th, 2018 Klay waxed the Chicago Bulls with a 52 point performance in only 3 quarters of action. I’m guessing if he had played the fourth quarter that number is a solid 17 and 61 points on the books. He was that locked in. Steph has never been shy about admitting that he wants that record. Iron sharpens iron as they say. “I’m still gunning for Klay,” Curry said in an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area.
Will it happen? It’s a long shot but as Steph said himself, “crazier things have happened.” Steph gonna Steph and I will be locked in at Crestas 2211 Club hoping to write a column on the best individual night I’ve ever seen in NBA history.
