FREE RIDES ON THE F CAR TODAY!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

After all of their trial runs this week, the Blue Angels have literally almost made me choke on just about everything I’ve put in my mouth this week. That’s not to say I won’t be specific — but the terror inducing sounds of a jet seeming to fly right through the window can make anyone jump and they seem to have an impeccable knack for always coming around when i’m in the process of putting things in my mouth.

Case in point: Fleet Week has entered the City and its being shoved down all of our throats, whether we like it or not. Although I am not one to wave a flag, watch planes zoom around overhead at a billion miles per hour all just to yell “FUCK YEAH, AMERICA!”, there are ways in which to benefit from this invasion.

LIKE FREE RIDES ON THE F CAR! The F Car is the historic MUNI ride that stretches from the Castro to the Ferry Building. It’s often packed with hilarious, uninformed tourists and bums looking to move from the TL every now and then. But why not use it to your advantage and head down to the action on the Embarcadero, or head uptown for a delicious brunch sandwich at Ike’s? The choice is yours. But take advantage of not paying for a ticket while you can — you never know what kind of free shows you’ll be treated to on the bus.

Monica Miller - The Intern

Ms. Miller was born in San Diego, CA to one lesbian mother and one
righteous, cheap father. Currently, she is enrolled at San Francisco
State University for a B.A. in Journalism and the approximate
completion date is around 2015. She has worked for many papers in the
Bay Area, including the Oakland Tribune and the San Mateo Country
Times and is currently the city editor at one of the most
underappreciated publications in SF, the Golden Gate [X]press. Though
she may find bargains aplenty, it only stems from the necessity of
never landing an actual job and working for hacks [like Stuart.] With
intelligence, style, poise, bite, and honesty, she will rip your heart
out; but not before writing some awesome, poignant shit. This year,
she is looking forward to bigger and better things such as: trying to
get paid for a gig, actually finding a date that isn't a loser or
fucking crazy, not calling her parents when hungover and bringing you
the best of the 7x7 everyday of the week. [By the way, I wasn't
kidding about the date thing; if you love food, booze and shoegaze,
get at me.]
