Broke Ass Bulletin for the week of November 14th!
Hey, I’m checking in a little late this week, but Friday the 13th got a little out of hand. What can I say? I thrive on bad luck. Here is some of the best picks of the week:
Dive-y Dreams: Love this shot of the Buddha Bar. It makes this infamous dive almost beautiful. [Eater SF]
Transportation Trainwreck: Were you aware of the fact that after the Bay Bridge was repaired from the cracks last month, it was not inspected by the feds, which is a requirement? Pretty fucking scary. [SF Examiner]
Waiter Wars: Since I figure most of the Broke Ass community serves or has served the public in a restaurant setting, what are your thoughts on waiter expectations? This New York Times blogger shares his thoughts, and the rest of America chimes in. [NY Times]
The Power of Suggestion: If you love McSweeney’s [there can’t be many of you — I can barely afford to touch their issues], check out their recommended list. The most interesting include brown wax paper, Parks and Recreation and frozen mini-pancakes. [McSweeney’s]
Power Shot: If you’re looking for a great photography blog that focuses on SF, Caliber is the answer. Totally into this picture of the Lincoln Tunnel. [Caliber]
Goth Grave: For those of you that frequent Annie’s Social Club, we have gotten sad news that their last day of operations will be NYE 2009. You will, unfortunately, have to find somewhere else to sing Nick Drake songs and cry about the growing popularity of vampires. [Eater SF]
Transit Transparency: Check out this skate deck designed by John Barretto, entitled “MUNI is money.” Thank you, captain obvious. [MUNI Diaries
Serene Skulls: And we’ll end this week with a really great video of this year’s Dia de los Muertos processions set to Girls, one of my favorite local bands.
