Dirt Cheap Margaritas and Tacos at Underdog’s
So if you’re like me, you’re always looking for great happy hours in the city. This past Friday, I went ahead and tried a bar close to SF State. Normally, this means that I either end up in a pub with a bunch of bros or an old tiny hole in the wall with really disgusting and depressing men. I mean, lets face it, the Sunset is not bursting with amazing nightlife.
But then I checked out Underdog’s Sports Bar and Grill and I’m convinced I’ve found my new near school bar hangout. On Fridays, they have $.50 margaritas. $.50! Now, granted, the ones they serve you are only a bit larger then a shot glass, but they serve you two at a time and they aren’t too bad. I downed three sets in about 30 minutes without really trying and I definitely had a buzz going. The place was packed with people, but the waiters made their rounds pretty frequently, so I was happy.
I also decided to try some of their tacos, since I had heard their kitchen was a satellite of Nick’s Crispy Tacos in Russian Hill. I tried the $5 taco sampler, which gave you one carne asada taco, one carnitas taco and one chicken taco, and they were amazing! They were street style and bursting with flavor, and definitely filling.
So lets see'I managed to get full AND get my drink on for less than $10!?!?! How is that for a recession special? Plus, they have California Burritos!!
