Need something to do for free? Give me a ring. Looking for a cool present under $20? Send me a facebook message and I’ll get that shit to you ASAP. But I’m about to let you in on a little secret of how I lost 30 lbs and did it with spending less than $20 on food a month.

Though it seems a bit obvious, these little produce markets that sprinkle all over Clement and Geary are fucking gold mines. The halloumi cheese I’ve been searching for months for? In their fridge, and under $5. My favorite fruits in season? All for mere change in my pocket. After going vegetarian, this place reinforced the fact that my lifestyle change was not only healthier, but cheaper. Â Though it may be a pain in the ass to get to, if you live anywhere in the near vicinity, its totally worth it. The sweet Russian ladies that ring you up are super nice. They treat me real well, even though I’ve stumbled in here hungover begging for nutrients, or in sunglasses and heels picking up all my veggies for a dinner party. It may not always be organic and sustainable, but when you’re living on a budget, it sure does taste fresh.
