Beautiful Women in Bookstores : Jessica
Beautiful Women in Bookstores is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a celebration of reading, intelligence, independent bookstores, and of course, women. In a time when bookstores seem to be disappearing this is our effort to show how attractive books and reading really are. Each installment will have a different beautiful woman photographed in an independent bookstore and interviewed about what it is that makes reading so damn important.
This week’s BWB was submitted by one of our readers! If you’re interested in shooting and submitting you’re own BWB hit up alex@brokeassstuart.com

Model Name: Jessica Brye
Occupation: former professional nanny, I quit my job in February to travel and am moving to Australia for a year to work as a dive master on a scuba boat on the Great Barrier Reef
From: the east bay!
Favorite authors: David Sedaris, Michelle Tea, Orson Scott Card (but he’s a raging homophobe so I only borrow or buy his books used), Phillipa Gregory, Jodi Picoult, and last but not least, my queen JK Rowling.
Reading right now: I’m splitting my time between Icy Sparks (Gwyn Hyman Rubio) and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (Jonathan Safran Foer)
Favorite place to read: Split between my bath, my bed, or on a blanket in Dolores Park
Women who inspire me: My badass warrior-woman of a mother, Elizabeth Warren, JK Rowling, Laverne Cox.
Favorite Bookstore: When I was in high school my dad’s friend owned a bookstore in Lafayette. He wanted to throw a midnight, Harry Potter book release party but didn’t know how to go about doing it. My dad, knowing what a giant Harry Potter nerd I was, volunteered on my behalf and I ended up helping throw the party, including games, trivia and a bunch of my friends and I dressed up as characters. Letting a high schooler have that big of a part in the planning was pretty unheard of so I still have mad love for the Lafayette Book Store, may it rest in peace.
Is there anything sexy about good writing?: Absolutely not. Just kidding, bad grammar and poor spelling are deal breakers for me, so good writing can definitely be sexy in my eyes.
Beautiful bibliophiles wanted: Do you have a favorite bookstore? Do you know a beautiful woman who loves to read? Do your own shoot and send it in! We’d like to put it up on www.brokeassstuart.com. Send inquiries to alex@brokeassstuart.com
