Every early 20’s white kid’s favorite music festival, Coachella, returns to Indio, CA in April to host some of music’s biggest names and rising stars. As a special treat to concertgoers, the event’s organizers are taking a page out of McDonald’s playbook and sending custom Cardboard VR headsets along with their welcome kits this year.

I can Miley’s…wait, NO! Axl, no! Please, god…

If you’re not familiar with Google’s Cardboard, it’s the visual equivalent of surround sound for your telephone. Just pop your favorite iDevice into the sleek cardboard face mask and enjoy the experience of actually living inside a screen. Cardboard works by holding your phone inches from your eyeballs and distorting its picture with a pair of plastic fisheye lenses.

Coachella promises that the accompanying app will give fans a chance to look at festival pictures, videos, and performances already available on the Internet—without the cumbersome use of their hands.

Ultimately, the hope is that future festivals will be broadcast live straight into your face without so much as leaving your couch. What effect VR will have on the sale of Viagra, which tends to see a major spike in sales thanks to a demographic of middle-aged divorcees “getting back in the mix”, remains to be seen.
